Motorcycle madness
Someone operated a motorcycle in a reckless manner Thursday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. in the open lot. The man ignored orders from Public Safety officers when they approached to inform him that he needed to park his vehicle in the proper area and to register his motorcycle with the university.
The man refused to provide identification but said he was a Rider student. When officers tried to take down his license plate, the man fled at a high speed. Officers checked records and found that the motorcycle was issued to a prospective student.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, officers saw the motorcycle parked in the Poyda Lot. The vehicle was booted and at about noon the male came to the Public Safety office and became verbally abusive.
The male was eventually identified as the current owner of the vehicle and a resident student. He had purchased the motorcycle from the prospective student, but never registered it under his name. The male was charged with failure to produce identification, reckless endangerment, failure to comply, disorderly conduct and failure to register a vehicle. His campus driving privileges have been revoked.
