The soccer teams were on a roll this week as both Rider soccer teams pulled out victories over their opponents on Tuesday.

The men’s team (4-4) defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) (1-6) by a score of 3-1, while the women’s team (3-2-3) pulled an upset over St. Joseph, as they came back to win the game 3-2.
The Broncs began strong against the Highlanders in Newark as sophomore Nico Tramontana scored the first goal 6:14 into the first half.

Oklahoma outburst September 27, 2007

Last Saturday, Oklahoma State Cowboys Head Coach Mike Gundy went ballistic on The Oklahoman reporter Jenni Carlson in a post game interview about an article she wrote on junior quarterback Bobby Reid.

In the article Carlson questions the toughness of the quarterback, and uses “inside sources” and talk around the water cooler to make her claim.

After a strong start, the Rider golfers weren’t able to finish the job.

The Broncs opened up the St. Bonaventure Leo Keenan Invitational on a high note Sunday, coming out of day one in first place. They had a team score of 288, which was one shot ahead of second-place Duquense University.

Senior Stephanie Walker scored her third goal of the season and had five shots against Quinnipiac last Sunday in the Broncs’ first game of NEC play. Rider won 2-1 in overtime.By Kristie Kahl and Andrew Nelson

The Rider field hockey team (4-4 overall, 1-0 NEC) pulled through in overtime to come out on top in a Northeast Conference (NEC) game against Quinnipiac (1-7 overall, 0-1 NEC) on Sept. 23, putting them in second place in the conference, but fell short in a non-conference game to Temple.

Junior forward Tricia Crotty scored 3:18 into overtime for a 2-1 win over the Bobcats.

Violation September 27, 2007

Another sick underage student was found in the stairwell of Kroner Hall. On Thursday, Sept. 20, around 3 a.m., Public Safety found a female sitting on the stairs with her head in her hands and vomit around her feet. Public Safety observed she was also slow to answer questions. She was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and has been charged by LTPD and Rider for underage drinking.

Burglary September 27, 2007

Several personal items were stolen from a resident’s room in Hill Hall. On Sunday, Sept. 23, around 4:30 p.m., two males reported to Public Safety that their room had been burglarized earlier in the day. Items stolen include: money, cologne and a debit card. There are no suspects. Lawrence Township Police services were accepted and a report was taken. Anyone with information, contact Public Safety at x. 5029 or LTPD at 896-1111.

Drunk in public September 27, 2007

An underage student was nabbed for public intoxication at the Bronc Diner. On Sunday, Sept. 23, at 2:09 a.m., Public Safety observed a male student allegedly stumble out of the bathroom in Daly’s Dining Hall. Upon questioning, the student said he had not been drinking, but the smell of alcohol could be detected. The Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) also responded and the male said he had been drinking off-campus. LTPD conducted a field sobriety test, which he failed.
He was carted off to an area hospital by ambulance because of the amount of alcohol he had been drinking. He has been charged by LTPD for underage drinking and by Rider for violating the alcohol code. The matter has been sent to the Office of Community Standards.

World-class performers September 27, 2007

While most students involved with clubs may be lucky enough to perform in front of the Rider community, the students of Westminster Choir College (WCC) will have the chance to perform with four major orchestras this semester.

The Westminster Symphonic Choir is composed of WCC juniors and seniors as well as the first-year graduate students. According to the Westminster Web site, the Symphonic Choir has recorded and performed with major orchestras under virtually every internationally known conductor of the last 75 years.

Rider’s volleyball team was unable to come out on top when finally returning to their stomping ground after 11 games on the road, falling to two MAAC teams last weekend.

The Broncs (1-13, 0-5 MAAC) have dropped seven games in a row after losing to Manhattan 3-1, Siena 3-1, and Marist 3-0.
