Anything Goes
Buy for those you love
Thanksgiving has
passed, I hope that everyone enjoyed their holiday and the joy of getting
fatter because of all the food. But never fear my friends, because now, thanks
to the wonderful world of commercialism, we can shop off those pounds.
Why do I say that?
The answer is simple. We have begun to miss the true meaning of Christmas. No, I’m not speaking in a
religious sense, for all of you who do not practice, nor agree with the idea of
organized religion.
I am speaking solely
of the meaning behind Christmas: The idea of giving to one’s fellow man
and of enjoying the company of loved ones.
Christmas many years
ago—by that I mean back in the Stone Age—was a time when families
would gather around the ole Yule log, and celebrate the joy of life and the
gift of time spent with one’s loved ones. The joy of decorating the Christmas tree with one’s
family and sharing the stories of Christmases past was the main attraction.
Now, in this day and
age, the main attraction has become who can get the biggest whatever for
whomever they are attempting to please.
Lost is the joy of
looking at Christmas lights and singing Christmas carols. Christmas has become
another Hallmark holiday. By that I mean that the idea behind Christmas has
become one of buying and selling instead of loving and sharing.
Don’t forget
that when you go out shopping this year to buy as much as you can, because the
more that you buy for people, the more you love them.
