Dear Editor:

I’m writing in response to Bryan Yurcan’s Political Junkie column from Nov. 9. I find that most of the article is not only obnoxious, but pointless.

First off, who cares what team people are rooting for in the World Series? Every winning team is going to have a bandwagon—learn to live with it! As for your criticism of the Diamondbacks, the fact that they are a new team is the last reason to criticize them! Any team that goes from nothing to a World Series-caliber organization deserves respect.

Another thing . . . real men do not base their affiliations on uniform colors; my grandmother roots for teams based on their uniform colors.

Now on to the Mets . . . proletarian!? Look at their salaries before you try to call anyone in pro sports a proletarian. If John Rocker got traded to the Mets, you could go to the games and be ignorant together!

Next topic: anthrax. I know you want to be like all other journalists and get as many people excited as possible, but no one is going to send anthrax to Rider! And please do not disrespect the people who have already died from it by lightheartedly calling them “anthrax-carrying post officers.” Another thing, one does not “whip up” anthrax; it is not a substance but an organism.

Now the problems with Rider University. I’ll deal with the freshmen first. College is a learning experience. The freshmen are learning their limits. Let them be. If you didn’t do the same thing your freshman year, then you must have been one of those anti-social individuals who refused to leave their rooms. I was a freshman last year, and I could probably drink you under the table!

Parking. What does it matter if you have to park a little ways from your building? You probably need the exercise anyway. As for those people who go home on the weekends, leave them alone! If they are not here, then they can’t possibly be taking up one of your precious parking spots, now can they?

That’s enough for now, but by all means please continue writing.
