Letter to the
Editor: No problems with Financial Services
Dear Editor:
The
following letter is in regards to the front page article about the woes that
some students face from the financial services of this University.
I
am a junior who transferred here from a community college in Pennsylvania, and
so far the treatment I have gotten from all offices, including Student
Financial Services, has been above my expectations.
Some
of your interviewees have expressed that they have had to bug the staff in
order to get anything accomplished—that was not what happened to me at
all. I am in my second semester here, and every time I have either had to call
or visit this office, I have always been greeted with friendly and prompt
service.
A
recent experience with the office was just two weeks ago when I went there to
ask a question regarding a statement that was made on my SAR saying that my
answer to the “how many in your household” question was
inconsistent with my reportings.
I
showed up at the office and told the secretary my problem. She proceeded to see
if someone could help me with this issue. After a few minutes, I had the
answers to my problems—all under 20 minutes.
I
am sorry that some students have not experienced this, but I thank the
employees of Student Financial Services for at least changing my attitude
towards those in their position.
Sincerely,
Marie Brophy
Junior
