Contact sport
Anyone who says soccer is not a physical sport has obviously never seen it played. On Monday, Sept. 25, around 6:20 p.m., Public Safety received a call about an injury during a pick-up soccer game on Daly’s Intramural Fields. While playing, a male resident student unintentionally received a blow to the head. The student seemed disoriented and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance for further evaluation.
Watch out!
It must be hard to back out of a parking space. On Monday, Sept. 25, at 4:49 p.m., Public Safety observed a motor vehicle accident between two drivers on Poyda Drive. While driving near the Fraternity Lot, a female commuter student’s car was struck by a male resident student pulling out of a parking space. The male student reported to Public Safety that Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) had already been called. While the male student’s car suffered major damage, the female driver’s car received minor damage. LTPD then charged the male student with “improper
backing.”
Fist fight
Local police are not exactly sure what happened yet, but it seems as if a male student got into a fight with five female students. On Saturday, Sept. 23, at 3:37 a.m., a Resident Advisor in Wright Hall reported an altercation involving several people that was occurring outside her window. When Public Safety responded, several people were spotted fleeing the scene and heading into Lincoln Hall.
Lawrence Township Police Department (LTPD) and the local ambulance responded. From what police gather, the male victim was fighting five other female students. The male had a large gash on his pinky finger and was turned over to the ambulance. The investigation is still continuing and anyone with information should call Public Safety at x. 5029 or LTPD at 896-1111. |
