Comfort is the goal of Café renovations
By Jessica Geiger
The Cranberry Café will be sporting a new look for next September. The café will be installing renovations for a more comfortable, modern feel for the University.
According to Jan Freidman-Krupnick, assistant vice president, the menu will be upgraded to provide a higher standard of food. The renovations will include new flooring, additional booths, new chairs and couches, which will provide a convenient, comfortable and wireless place for students to sit, relax and do work.
“The overall concept was to provide an increase in customer satisfaction,” said Krupnick.
Krupnick said surveys and focus groups were taken within the Rider community to get an idea of what renovations were needed. The concept of the Café resembling a Panera Bread resturarant was the most popular idea.
“This proves the institution commitment to quality,” said Krupnick.
One of the first features is the installation of a brick oven, which will have Flatbed wraps and upscale toppings with multiple crust style pizzas. This Mediterranean section would also offer made-to-order pasta.
Also, there will be a deli/bakery that sells freshly prepared salad, gourmet wraps and homemade soups.
The Café will also sell baked goods and a large assortment of hot beverages. The hot drinks will include a full line of coffees, espresso, hot chocolates and a select line of freshly brewed tea.
There will also be a grill to provide a full compliment of lunch and dinner sections. The types of meals at the grill will include Mexican, Mediterranean and Asian.
The renovations will provide the students and faculty with an array of food options, which Krupnick believes is an important factor in the
changes.
“People like variety,” said Krupnik. “This gives the Rider community more different choices in places that they can get a meal.”
The renovations will begin right after graduation and be completed by this September.
